Topeka 2011

Bailey has been asking since February when the Topeka wildlife farm will be open again. I blogged about this last year because she loved it so much. It was great again this year!

They had baby pot-belly pigs that were absolutely adorable, and they had a little rocking chair where children could chase down these somewhat-unfortunate pigs and then rock them. One actually liked the rocking and stopped squealing when Bailey took it over there.

Here are the pics of our first Topeka trip this year.

They also had some baby ducks and baby chicks that she could hold. She could have stayed in the little petting-zoo area all day if we'd have let her. That's also the area with the baby fawn. It was a sweet one this year.

They had young cougars this year, a fairly new black bear, some baby skunks, more tigers, the ponies, alligators (Bailey got to watch them feed the alligators hot dogs), monkeys, an albino raccoon, and the usual assortment of goats and deer. They also had a loose cat, but it was quick enough to stay away for the most part ... a good thing for everyone involved since she gets a little OCD with cats.

She opted out of the camel ride this time after they told us they were training a new camel and would refund our money if anything happened that we didn't like. Apparently, the camel decided to put its mouth around a grown man's head while he was leading the camel around a couple days before we were there. It didn't do anything to the riders, but still, I have a feeling witnessing anything like that might traumatize Bailey just a bit. We'll wait for old trusty to be back, thank you very much.
